French-German revenge drama directed by Arnaud des Pallières and starring Mads Mikkelsen. Michael Kohlhaas (Mikkelsen), a 16th-century horse dealer, is forced to give up two of his horses by a young nobleman who claims they are payment for passage through his land. Feeling a victim of injustice, Michael takes his claim to the courts where it is quickly ignored and his wife is killed through a resulting altercation with a guard. With no other option but to take the law into his own hands, he recruits a mob of fellow serfs to help fight his battle against the aristocracy. But with the severe nature of his actions against the state, he'll have to pay the ultimate price for justice...
